Busta Rhymes first single from his new album will not only feature Linkin Park but both Mike and Chester will also appear in the music video. The video will be released in May while the album, "Blessed" is set to be released on June 17.

Linkin Park Joins Busta Rhymes on Video Shoot for First Single From Rhymes' Forthcoming Album Blessed

SANTA MONICA, Calif., April 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Not only is
multi-platinum two-time Grammy-winning rock band Linkin Park featured on
the first single from acclaimed hip-hop innovator Busta Rhymes' new album,
but the band 's co-lead vocalists Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda will
also appear in the song's performance video. "We Made It," directed by
Chris Robinson, will be shot in Los Angeles on Tuesday, April 15.

The intriguing culture-mashing collaboration reflects the theme of "We
Made It." Says Rhymes of the song: "It ain't just about the 'hood, it ain't
just about the suburbs, it's about everybody. This is one of those songs
that can't be described better than touching the souls of the common
people."

"We Made It," produced by Cool and Dre, with additional production by
Mike Shinoda, and its video will be released in May, prior to the debut of
Rhymes' eighth studio album, Blessed (Flipmode/Aftermath/Interscope), on
June 17.

Busta Rhymes' previous album, 2006's The Big Bang, his first for Dr.
Dre's Aftermath Entertainment, became the first #1 Pop album of his career,
and fourth #1 R&B/Hip-hop album. Spinning off the Top 20 Pop hit "Touch
It," The Big Bang claimed the top spot in its first week and went gold. The
album followed his gold It Ain't Safe No More. The Brooklyn-born, Long
Island-raised Busta Rhymes (named by Chuck D of Public Enemy) launched his
solo career in 1996 with the platinum #1 R&B/Hip-hop The Coming and its Top
10 platinum "Woo Hah!! Got You All In Check." Called "the most
idiosyncratic personality in rap and possessor of its most recognizable
delivery, a halting, ragga-inspired style with incredible complexity,
inventiveness, and humor" (All Music Guide), Rhymes followed with three
more platinum albums: When Disaster Strikes (#1 R&B/Hip-hop), Extinction
Level Event (The Final World Front) (#2 R&B/Hip-hop), Anarchy (#1
R&B/Hip-hop) and Genesis (#2 R&B/Hip-hop), and their gold Top 10 Pop hits
"Dangerous," "Turn It Up" and "What's It Gonna Be."

While "We Made It" marks Rhymes' first teaming with a rock band, Linkin
Park previously crossed genres when the group partnered with Jay-Z in 2004
for the platinum mash-up Collision Course, a #1 Pop album that featured the
digital gold, Grammy winning track "Numb/Encore."

Linkin Park (vocalist Chester Bennington, drummer Rob Bourdon,
guitarist Brad Delson, DJ Joe Hahn, bassist Dave "Phoenix" Farrell and
vocalist Mike Shinoda) has been touring in support of its double platinum
album Minutes To Midnight and new hit single "Given Up." The album, one of
the highest-debuting discs of 2007 and the seventh best-selling album of
the year, has already spawned three Top 10 hits ("Bleed It Out," "What I've
Done," "Shadow Of The Day"), amplifying an already illustrious career.
Since arriving in 2000, Linkin Park has won two Grammy Awards (Best Hard
Rock Performance with their hit single "Crawling" and Best Rap/Sung
Collaboration with Jay-Z for the aforementioned "Numb/Encore"), sold more
than 45 million albums worldwide (its diamond-certified debut Hybrid Theory
has sold more than 18 million copies), and garnered an international
fanbase. The band recently announced the highly anticipated lineup for
Projekt Revolution 2008.

Mike talks 'We Made It'
posted by Jas, 04/16/08
Mike has updated his blog with a little bit more info about Busta Rhymes' new single and video which feature Linkin Park.

we are pleased to announce a new song, about to hit the streets…a new collaboration we did with the incomparable busta rhymes. chester, busta, and i just shot the video with director chris robinson. the song is called "we made it" and will be featured on busta's new album "blessed." chester sings on the hook (i did some harmonies) and i do the second verse. i did some production work on it, and brad laid down some guitar at the end.

as many of you may realize, this is the first time LP has been "featured" on a new song by any artist. we have done individual cameos in the past (and did a "mash-up" of existing songs with a certain mr. s-dot-carter) but this is the first time you have seen "featuring linkin park" on any all-new song. for my part, the thing that drew me in was the musicality of the track and the sincerity of busta's performance. it's a song about overcoming adversity and celebrating the difficult obstacles that we overcome. i loved writing to it, and hope you all enjoy the song, which should be out soon.

also, keep an eye on our linkinparktv youtube channel for video footage and a behind-the-scenes look at the shoot and creation of the song. to round out the experience, busta told me that he's setting up a charity foundation (tentatively) called the "we made it foundation" that will be rewarding young students for quarterly excellence in academics and discipline—at home and at school. more to come. and just for fun…one of my favorite busta songs from a few years back…WOO-HAAAAA

Busta Rhymes & Linkin Park Remake ‘The Odd Couple’

http://newsroom.mtv.com/2008/04/16/bust … dd-couple/

MTV News producer Yasmine Richard spent yesterday afternoon on the set of Busta Rhymes’ video for “We Made It,” featuring the boys of Linkin Park. She wrote in from the abandoned warehouse in downtown LA:

So we spent the first hour waiting and watching director Chris Robinson’s crew set up Mike Shinoda’s piano solo shot. And when Mr. Shinoda rolled up, he told us he had some fond memories: Linkin Park shot the cover of their second album, the massive Meteora, right on that spot.

And, you know how it goes: 2 1/2 hours later we’re still waiting — when Bussa Bus, Mike, and Chester start shooting their performance. I’ve got to say, it’s an unusual-looking group to see together. Seriously. But somehow, when Chris paired the visuals with the vibe of the song, it just felt right.

Whatever. You’ll have to wait like everybody else until this thing premieres…

Busta’s newly re-titled album, Blessed, is due this summer.

Boredom, Vegas, Party Mouth, Busta!

From there, we got a message from our manager that Mike Shinoda and Chester from Linkin Park did a song for Busta Rhymes new album and that they were shooting the video for it the other day. Tak, Ryu, and Cheap showed up at the exact call time of 1pm (Vin Skully's scared of cameras....and fun apparently). Turned out they didnt have to do their scene until 8pm, but during the 7 hour wait they enjoyed some scrumptious catering (chili dogs, burgers, fries...only the best for busta!), played Guitar Hero in LP's trailor (courtesy of Chester), drank tons of booze (jack and bud lights), and listened to Ryu's amazing farts (he was on fire that day). They got to hang out with Busta Rhymes, director Chris Robinson, and up and coming hip hop legend Bishop Lamont! We're 99% sure our part will get cut, but it was still a great time and an honor to meet three legends of the hip-hop game!

Busta Rhymes Lines Up Old Friends Linkin Park For New Single, 'We Made It'

'It speaks to the man in the struggle from the 'hood to the upper echelon,' Bus says of track from Blessed, due July 1.

Together, they made it. Busta Rhymes, Linkin Park and producers Cool & Dre proved that teamwork can reach across the world. The three collaborated for Busta Rhymes' new single, "We Made It."

"The [beat for the] Linkin Park record was given to me by Cool & Dre about seven months ago," Busta explained in a desolate building outside of Los Angeles on the set of the song's video. "I'm on a bus ride from New York to L.A., about 38 hours. Every time I'm on the bus, I listen to the collective of beats I get for my album, just to vibe. We was listening to that song one day when I heard the beat. Cool & Dre had the chorus on there. I was like, 'This record is one of the biggest anthems,' because it felt like it was speaking to the common man. It wasn't exploiting what we usually exploit in hip-hop: the ass, throwing money, rims on the car. At this time in my career, it felt like something was needed, something inspirational. It speaks to the man in the struggle from the 'hood to the upper echelon."

The video for "We Made It" was filmed at the same location where Linkin Park were photographed for their Meteora artwork. The connection goes back further than that, though. Busta first met Linkin Park when they were mixing their first album, Hybrid Theory, and Bus showed love to the up-and-coming squadron.

"Normally, I'm a little skeptical going into hip-hop tracks," Mike Shinoda said as he finished filming a scene in which he plays the piano. "This is the very first time Linkin Park have been featured on anybody else's song. We did the mash-up project with Jay-Z, but that was featuring his music and our music. It's an entirely different thing. What that all comes down to is the strength of the track. That's due in part to Cool & Dre and in part to Busta. When we came in, we did our thing to it and added that next level of something new and different. Each party had a mutual appreciation.

"We were touring in Asia at the time," he added. "We cut a lot of our parts in a studio in Taipei. It kinda fit the theme of the song 'We Made It.' We're recording vocals in China, halfway across the world. He's in New York and L.A. doing his thing. On this track, I got to know Busta a little better. He's very much that character, that personality that you see. But there is a side of him that's very humble and down-to-earth that other people don't get to see."

A couple of years ago, Busta Rhymes became associated with something longtime followers of his career never expected: crime. Whether it was the murder of his friend Israel Ramirez or his own multitude of run-ins with the police, the usually jovial Bus encountered major strife. With everything behind him, he's decided to change the title of his summer release from Back on My Bullsh-- (he insists the title, which was thought up by producer Pharrell Williams, will be the name of his next album) to Blessed.

" 'Blessed' sounded more right," Busta said on the set as director Chris Robinson filmed scenes outside. "It was the perfect way of giving thanks to how blessed I really have been. My last two years have been unnecessarily rigorous. A bunch of unpleasant things have been going on. Just getting past all of that, I felt I was truly blessed.

"They send a lot of our people to jail," he added. "I'm not just talking about black people, I'm talking about rap artists. You got [Mobb Deep's] Prodigy, Remy [Ma] in jail. T.I. with his recent situation. It's unfortunate and feels in an obvious way that we're being targeted for a lot of things, primarily because we're recording artists. I had four pending cases at one time. For me to be able to not have to endure any jail time, to get past that situation with just probation, I wanna just show my appreciation. It's the best feeling in the world. I'm happy. I'm in the best space of my life."

Blessed will be released July 1.

Lines

Busta Rhymes thankful for Linkin Park collab

Busta Rhymes talks about his collaboration with LP for the 'We Made It' single.

Busta Rhymes talked about his appreciation of Linkin Park and how the song meaning changed during production and recording of the track. "First of all I'm a fan of what they do. Second of all the song and what it represents, like, a whole new meaning of the song came about as a result of just the story and the process and the story of the whole development of the coming together." The song is titled "We Made It," and Busta talked about hoping that the collaboration would happen. "So when it happened for me, because I wanted it so bad and I was so close to have it and couldn't have it, a couple of prayers was all I had to hold on to because at the end of the day it was so out of my control at that point that I didn't have anything else to put my faith in except the most high. So at the end of the day when I got the word that it went down I called my mom first."

Busta's Summer: Projekt Revolution Tour, New CD

June 03, 2008, 10:20 AM ET

Mitchell Peters, L.A.
Rapper Busta Rhymes has been tapped to perform on the main stage of this summer's Projekt Revolution tour, which also features performances by Linkin Park, Chris Cornell, the Bravery and Ashes Divide, among others.

Rhymes recently drafted Linkin Park to guest on his new single, "We Made It," which was produced by Cool & Dre and Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda. The track will appear on Rhymes' eight studio album, "Blessed," due later this summer via Flipmode/Aftermath/Interscope.

"It made perfect sense for us to be on the tour together, so we could perform ['We Made It'] and bring it to life for people every night," Rhymes tells Billboard.com.

As previously reported, the fifth installation of the Linkin Park-reared trek is scheduled to visit 24 U.S. cities, beginning July 16 at the Tweeter Center outside Boston and wrap Aug. 24 at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in Houston. Atreyu, 10 Years, Hawthorne Heights, Armor For Sleep and the Street Drum Corps will appear on the smaller Revolution Stage.

Rhymes plans to perform new material from "Blessed" during Projekt Revolution, but doesn't expect his set to get too flashy. "I'm really one that loves the traditional sense of hip-hop," the rapper explains. "I like microphones and turntables."

"Blessed" is the follow-up to 2006's "The Big Bang," which debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 609,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

"This album is Busta Rhymes in a mastered way," he says, noting that "The Big Bang" was a collaborative effort with Dr. Dre. "I think [Dre] felt like it was time to allow me to spread my wings and take the best of what I learned from my experience in doing 'The Big Bang' to this new album."

Along with Linkin Park, "Blessed" finds Rhymes collaborating with T-Pain ("Blown"), Ludacris, Lil Wayne ("Throw It Up"), Akon, T.I. ("Don't Believe 'Em"), Jamie Foxx, Mary J. Blige, John Legend, Common ("Decision"), J. Holiday ("Hits for Days") and the Pussycat Dolls' Nicole Scherzinger ("If"), among others.

Lyrically, Rhymes drew from "my own personal experience, like a lot of sh*t I've been through for the last two years," he says. For instance, in April 2006, the rapper was arrested and charged with assault in New York.

"I'm also giving people my perspective on what my experience was, because I never really made time to communicate with the people about my perspective, especially when a lot of the heat was going on with my situation," Rhymes continues. "I'm able to properly control the way everything is addressed on my album."

Music isn't the only thing Rhymes has in the works. The rapper will appear in the upcoming film "Order of Redemption," which also stars actors Armand Assante and Tom Berenger. Rhymes also performed a new song Saturday (May 31) on Mixed Martial Arts' first prime-time TV event on the CBS.

"We're strategically moving the chess pieces to make sure we're doing the most incredible things that we can be doing," says Rhymes, noting that he has a "couple of deals we're going to be closing on a corporate level."

Following the Projekt Revolution tour, Rhymes says he will head overseas to headline an arena tour. "We're starting in Europe and then bringing it back to the U.S.," he says. "We're still coordinating the lineup right now."
